along – pozdĺž

(Auto išlo pozdĺž cesty.)
Trevor is walking along the street. (Trevor kráča pozdĺž ulice.) 
Let´s go for a walk along the river.
(Poďme na prechádzku pozdĺž rieky.)
Go along this road.
(Choď pozdĺž tejto cesty.)
Predložku pohybu along používame na vyjadrenie pozdĺž niečoho ako ulica, cesta, rieka, ... teda niečoho, čo je dlhšie. Nemôžeme ju použiť napr. s budovou: go along the house. V tomto prípade použijeme vyššie spomenutú predložku past. Napr. I went past the pub. (Išiel som okolo krčmy/popri krčme.)
