Read the text and complete the missing phrases a - g. There is one extra phrase you do not need.
When the first civilisations came into being, the customs and beliefs of the people influenced their art strongly. In ancient Egypt, for example, ...(1)... they might need in the spirit world. The dead man´s tomb ...(2)... with his best possessions and decorated with paintings showing scenes of work and play from normal life. In these paintings it was the custom for people to ...(3)... to the front so that both arms were visible. In this way no limbs appeared to be missing from the image, and the dead man could take a complete body to the spirit world.
