Time prepositions in, on, at – Predložky času in, on, at


V angličtine sa niektoré predložky používaju aj na vyjadrenie času aj miesta. Medzi ne patria aj predložky in, on, at. My si vysvetlíme ich použitie ako predložiek času.

in + year/month/season/century/part of day
in + rok/mesiac/ročné obdobie/storočie/časť dňa
in 1988
in September
in winter
in the 21st century
in the morning
 
pozor! in the night = in the middle of the night (v „strede“ noci)


Časť dňa sa dá kombinovať aj s dňom v týždni, ale vtedy už používame predložku času on:


on Monday morning

on Friday evening


- on

 

 

on + day/date
on + deň/dátum
 
on Wednesday
on 22 November

 

Iné použitie:
on that day
on my birthday
on Christmas day

 

- at


           


at + clock time/meal time/two or three days

at + čas/čas jedla/zoskupenie 2-3 dní
 
at 5 o´clock
at lunch
at Christmas, at Easter, at the weekend (v americkej angličtine on the weekend)

 

Iné použitie:
at the moment
at night = when it is night (keď je noc)

 

Pozor!

Predložky času in/on/at nepoužívame pred:

this  - Are you going out this evening?

last – We worked in London last summer.

next – They are going out next weekend.

every – I go shopping every Monday.

 

Poznámka:

 

Predložku času in môžeme používať aj vtedy, keď chceme vyjadriť „za aký čas od teraz“


 

Hurry! The train leaves in five minutes. (= o päť minút od teraz)

Goodbye! I´ll see you in a few days. (= o pár dní od teraz)
