Prehistoric settlement, the first peoples of
our country
The historically documented sources, we know that our territory is given primarily Celts, who penetrated here in the late 3rd century. BC. The Celts were skilled craftsmen, blacksmiths and potters in particular, should throw, minted its own coins. In our area they were found coins with the inscription Biatec and Nonnos. The Celts founded the fortified headquarters - Oppidi whose remains were found in Bratislava and Plaveckom Podhradí. Celts from the territory of Slovakia pushed the Romans, whose unit penetrated deep into the hinterland of the western and southern Slovakia (the Morava, Považie,and Pohronie,Ponitrie). The most famous historical monument of the Roman troops stay in our territory is a historic inscription on a rock in Trenčín (Laugaritio) from the years 179-180. The monument to the presence of troops of Emperor Marcus Aurelius Germanic tribes in the suppression.
Arrival of Slavs(4 - 7 Century)
Since the end of 4th century began because of migration of peoples to penetrate into the Carpathian Basin Slavic tribes. In 6th century they threatened Avars.
